Fall Fair Youth Gardening Contest

Pass Creek Fall Fair is holding a “Youth Gardening Competition”.

Three youth age groups – 6 to 10, 11 to 15, 16 to 19 years are eligible to enter.

The contest requirements are to choose six agricultural categories from the fifteen listed, which includes: Fruits: apples, grapes-green, grapes-purple, pears, or plums. Flowers: petunia, marigold-dwarf, daisies, sweet peas, pansies. Vegetables: carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, beets-globe or beans green.

The youth may mix and or match the categories if they wish.

The contestants must grow, from bedding plants or seeds the plants chosen, and take care of vines and trees if fruits are chosen.

Each category entered must consist of four items the same variety.

Each contestant will write a short paragraph describing what he or she learned from growing and caring for their garden.

A money prize will be given, 1st - $50; 2nd - $45’ 3rd - $35; 4th $25;, winners in each age group. Each of the remaining contestants will receive a participation prize.

All contestants start to plan your garden soon. Prepare the soil, select the seeds and or bedding plants you will be using.
