Suggestions to Exhibitors


QUANTITIES: Exhibit only the quantity and number called for.

BAKING: To be displayed on plates in zip lock type bags, except iced cakes and pies. Pies to be made the day before entering.

FLOWERS: These should be fresh and uniform. Soak the ground well the day before cutting. Cut flowers after sunset or before sunrise. Cut on a long angle with razor blade or very sharp knife. Display in clear jars, not precious vases.

FRUIT: Exhibit the number specified. Fruit should be uniform in size, colour, maturity and shape.

PHOTOGRAPH: The 4”by 6” photos are to be mounted on black cardboard for easier handling and pinning on display board.

FRAMED PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND NEEDLECRAFT: are to be strung with wire or string for ease of hanging.

VEGETABLES: Ensure that you exhibit the number specified. Specimens should be as uniform as possible in colour, maturity, shape and size. Tops should not exceed 1 inch. Plates will be supplied.

NEEDLEWORK, YARN & NEEDLECRAFT: Will be judged on the basis of design, degree of difficulty and skill, as well as neatness and general appearance.

Trophies

Family Aggregate: Donated by the City of Castlegar. Eligible to the family with the most Points.

Senior Aggregate: Keeper and perpetual trophy donated by Robson Volunteer Fire Department. Eligible to the senior exhibitor with the most points.

Adult Aggregate: Donated by Pass Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Eligible to the Adult with the most points in at least FOUR sections.

Junior Youth Aggregate: Donated by Johnnies Grocery & Gas. Eligible to the Youth with the most points in the age group 5 to 8 years.

Intermediate Youth Aggregate: Donated by Castlegar Robson Legion. Eligible to the Youth with the most points in the age group 9 to 12 years.

Senior Youth Aggregate: Donated by Castlegar Robson Legion. Eligible to the Youth with the most points in the age group 13 to 17.

Handicraft Aggregate: Keeper trophy donated by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion. Eligible to the adult with most points in handicraft, sewing or needlework.

Flower Aggregate: Trophy donated by Simone Jewellers Ltd.

Scarecrow Trophy: Donated by Wyllie and Company. Eligible to the person with the first place Scarecrow.

Grand Aggregate: Donated by Castlegar & District Chamber of Commerce. Eligible to the adult who has the most points in FIVE sections.
