Dressage Division

(d) denotes point class for Dressage division only
Dressage Tests will be for the year 2007. All tests will be ridden in a 20X60 metre arena. An ordinary snaffle bridle must be used; to be ridden with reins in both hands. Spurs and crops are optional. A maximum of 48 tests to be ridden. Tests can be found at: www.dressagecanada.org

NEW for 2007: Competitors may request to ride other tests of a higher level by phoning the Show Secretary prior to September 10.

Times will be posted at the grounds on Thursday evening. Riders may phone the Show Secretary to obtain riding times.
It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to present themselves to the Steward for their tack check immediately before and after each test. Any discrepancy to the saddlery rules will incur elimination. Failure to report will incur elimination.
If there is only one competitor in a class, the competitor shall compete against a percentage of the total mark.

Driving

  1. Pleasure Driving Working – Open – A Pleasure Driving Class in which entries are judged primarily on the suitability of the horse to provide a pleasant drive. To be shown both ways of the arena at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. To stand quietly, both on the rail and while lined up, and to rein back. All entries chosen for a workout may be worked both ways of the arena at any gait requested by the Judge and may be asked to execute a figure of eight. Horse(s) to be Judged 70 % on performance, manners and way of going; 20% on the condition and fit of harness and vehicle; 10% on Driver's neatness and attire

  2. Reinmanship – Open – A Pleasure Driving Class in which entries as judged primarily on the ability and skill of the Driver. To be shown at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. Drivers shall be required to rein back. All drivers chosen for a workout may be worked at any gait requested by the Judge and may be asked to execute a figure of eight and/or perform other appropriate tests. Driver to be Judged 75% on handling of reins and whip, control, posture and overall appearance; 25% on condition of harness and vehicle and neatness of attire.

  3. Driving Scurries – Open – A course of 5 cones. Two to be taken around to the right and two to be taken around to the left and a center cone to be taken either way, as per diagram. Timed event. 5-point penalty for each break of gait, pull back to trot or be eliminated. 5-point penalty for each displaced cone.
